How you can help in a disaster
When a disaster strikes, people want to help. 
But the wrong kind of help can be as bad as the disaster. Donated items that are not requested can take up space needed for emergency supplies,  money collected by well meaning folks may not make it to the intended victims.
How to Help: Raise Money for Established Relief Agencies 
 Give generously to those agencies providing assistance to the disaster victims. Money helps by allowing the agencies to provide the needed assistance without the difficulties in shipping donated goods. By following the guidelines for donations and volunteering, you can make a difference.
How to Help: Volunteer for a relief agency, below is a listing of some of the agencies that need volunteers to serve disaster victims in you community.

National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster - is a partnership in disaster response. The organization was founded in the simple belief that the time to prepare for the next disaster is now.
